Brain Awareness

Today Room 8 students heard all about how different  their week would be. We all had a talk this morning by Pascal Saker about how the brain works. A baby is born with a blank brain and quickly learns by using their senses.  Imagine that. We loved looking at the online 3D model of the brain.
Tomorrow we are starting our design our own literacy day and table group designed daily fitness.
For homework we got a blank page to fill! We are all very excited.

Can you see Nigel Neuron by the chart. He is our Brain Week mascot.

Brain Awareness Week is Here!

In Week 7 we will be learning about our brains, how they work, how to protect them and how we are different.
Room 8 will be using their brains a lot to make their own decisions about their learning day. They will be designing fitness for the class, their own literacy learning and have lots of opportunities to be creative. How will it go ? They are also deciding what they will do for homework.
Come back and see what happened.

The Logic Smart Kids

For the past 3 weeks we have enjoyed a Smart afternoon on Wednesdays. Teachers chose different Smarts and developed activities using them to help students learn about Earthquakes and Volcanoes. Here is a taste of Room 8's Logic Smart activities.

The Big Bang

Muritai school has enjoyed a super science week this week with teachers and students involved in science experiments and investigations every day! To celebrate the final day Mrs Ryan and Mr McMillan organised a Geyser Tube Challenge for the whole school.

Every class chose a student  to pull the pin on a tube of mentos which then dropped into a bottle of coke.

The resulting acid/base reaction shot a geyser of bubbles as high as 15 metres into the air!
