Room 8 love their little Room 4 buddies. They have taught their little buddies how to play pictionary.

Measurement Maths

Room 8 designed, measured and drew Captain Blood's Pirate Ship as part of a measurement story, introducing Metres as a form of standard units of measurement.

Healthy Seas Healthy People

We have had a team focus on Sea week and we have been exploring sea creatures and what are the things that are not good for our oceans like overfishing, dumping rubbish, pouring chemicals down our drains and using set nets which over fish and kill lots of other creatures.
We had some fun making jellyfish in a bottle. Look carefully and you might see them swimming in the bottles.

A Great Start to 2017

We have had a great start to 2017 and its been very busy.
We started with lots of swimming and our swimming sports.

Evan was excited about his Bronze Certificate from Mathletics. Good job Evan.

We have done  lots of Science in our Stem room.  Room 8 shared the place with Room 9 and experimented with skittles.

Why did the dye on the skittles spread this way?

And more Science Magnetic Madness!
We spent time exploring why things are attracted to a magnet.

Beach Clean Up Day

As part of our water study, Oliver from Sustainable Coastlines gave us a presentation about where rubbish can go when in the sea. Sea creatures can eat the rubbish, mistaking it for food.
Afterwards we had a beach clean up.We didn't think there was a lot of rubbish but in total we picked up over 300 litres of rubbish in just a couple of hours!

Readers Theatre

As part of our reading and writing this term we are trying a bit of Readers Theatre where we read poems as if they are plays. It's a lot of fun and a chance to use our expressive voices.
